Last Sermon on the series about "Mentorship" The First Apostle - Jesus and Mary Magdalene Pastor: Johan Luque
The grace of God is appreciated the most when we understand our own reality without Christ. Grace is like the internet, we know is there and we use, but many actually don't know how it works. Today's message from Ephesians 2:1-10 encourages us to appreciate the meaning of grace at a deeper level.
In God's kingdom there are followers and there are disciples. What's the difference? In Luke 14:25-35, we see that some followed Jesus, but it seems that Jesus wanted more from them and makes a shocking statement: hate your loved ones and you will be my disciples. What does it mean for Jesus to "hate our loved ones"?
What's the message of Christmas? We have a God who is in control of history. Zechariah's story shows us how the first Christmas began and what it meant for him to experience God's presence revealing his plans. Our God is in control and we are called to trust him with everything.
Today we are starting a new series of messages- Worship as a Response. How do you know that you are a true worshiper? Today's message is the story of the ten lepers that received healing, but only one turn back to praise and to worship Jesus. Every blessing that we receive from God should prompt our hearts to worship him.
In Genesis 3, we see how Adam and Eve use hiding to cope with their fears, guilt and shame. God continues to walk towards us to seek us out in our hiding places. At the center of any unhealthy coping mechanism there is the need to hide from facing the pain of our wounds, failures and sins. Today's message challenges us to face our fears and shame by letting God find us where we are at.
